This is an up-date for you about Sam (July 2009)
Currently I am running Sanxing Better Health (and loving it more than ever). I am really enjoying the hormone components of health and have started an on-line female (mainly) website called w.byebyebridget.com.
I have also published my first book, Hot Tips for the Business Traveller, which I am hoping Richard Branson will endorse, so that it can be used to raise money for kids in Asia and Africa.
I am also on Facebook, where I display my art and Linked in . I have started a site on You Tube for bits and pieces – good for a laugh –

I am hoping to do research, provide information, bring some fun and unite women about issues faced today in the new millennium. We are encountering more influences than ever before (natural hormones, synthetic hormones, toxins etc) and it is a real struggle to remain “feminine” but also sexy, smart and still do all the house chores!

Sam Beau Patrick says bye bye bridget
Do you often look for a 2 minute break from the computer? – maybe a coffee; check the horoscopes; the bureau of meteorology ?
Then start watching Sam as she says: “bye-bye Bridget ”– in her “get fit, lose fat for summer campaign”.
In a major attempt to banish all bad habits (well curtail them), Sam is undertaking a 7 week challenge to say bye bye bridget.
You too can join in the 7 week challenge - at any stage. Just email Sam at sam@sanxing.com.au to order your t-shirt or simply committ to change. Little consistant changes.
YOU can harness the excitement of seeing someone you know go through this progression and YOU will be motivated, You can pick up secret diet tips, and you can receive that much needed support (on-line by joining in the chat and feedback sections) and so much more.
It's not just about losing fat. It's about kicking those bad winter habits. It's about eating healthy, about saying "NO" to chocolate, wine and lattes and
saying "YES " to fruit and vegetables and long walks on the beach!
Go- join in the fun!
If you want to join in the fun, I shall be listing the training sessions so you are welcome to come along. At this stage everything is free. I will be ordering some t-shirts from time to time so if you would like one and if you are prepared to take on the BYE BYE BRIDGET campaign, let me know.
At last i have made the commitment to lose the (same ) 6 kg that have been haunting me over the last 2 years. And cut back on wine and dips and chocolate. i am aiming to lose 5-6 kg in 7 weeks. My personal trainer. Quentin (http://www.insideoutpersonaltraining.com.au) ) and i are videoing the process. WE hope this will motivate you to join us - even if from your own back yard.
If I can do it, I know you can!
All comments welcome and there is a survey for you to fill in (if you wouldn't mind )http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=wtHhtnnAptikMNH0ROnJNw_3d_3d
WEdnesday 24th Dec
Tomorrow it all happens, byebyebridget takes on it's own entity and website. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=6fZCnPXjUEA
today shopping at 440pm at local shopping centre - parks everywhere, Dan Murphy's on the other hand was like a rock concert - cars everywhere.
I had some bad news today - I found out on my allergy test that i am allergic to eggs and sugar (!!!) There goes at least 85% of my current diet. No wine, no omletes, no pav!!! lordie lordie...
Thanks for being my official support team. For the record, i didn;t lose my 6kg. I lost 3kgs and 10cm off my waist. I certainly feel so much better mentally, strengthwise and commitment wise. Have a great Christmas tomorrow and please have a look at the new website. Bridg
Monday 22nd Dec
Well my official "get fit, lose fat for summer" campaign is drawing to a close. I have one more PT session tomorrow for this year! WOW. Some things have been fantastic - infact it all has. From this challenge, i have started to re-shape ( I hadn't realised how much the insipidous drinking 1-2 glasses per night, bikkidy-dips and lattes has inflicted their addictions apon me). Probably the hardest thing to shake has been the coffee - which for those who know me is bizarre. 12 months ago I never even liked the stuff. So, is often the way with things that are bad for us, I have allowed something that i don't even like or agree to, to take residence in my life. OK I am tired, but the challenge has been fantastic for me to wipe my slate clean and start again. I feel much more positive, laugh alot more and am living each day in earnest and whole heartedly.
Given all the other negative occurances in the world, i think this is pretty good. I have learned to re-connect with myself, decifer what makes me and those around me happy and what i can give. I am learned to say "no" in a very nice way, and am so grateful for exercise.
If i could pin point one thing that has made the biggest difference - it would be daily exercise. Walking, swimming, a swim in the ocean, a run, mostly things that don';t cost money.
My little mantra: I am loved, loving, loveable, happy and healthy, i am safe and i am ok, also put my mind at rest.
soon byebyebridget will take on it's own website...byebyebridget.com. A site where i can motivate, inspire, empower other people. It will be the member's website - i will be accountable to it and will change depending on what arises and what people need.
If you can spread the word, that would be excellent. I will post the fantastic give away on offer tomorrow :)
Wednesday 17th Dec
A friend and i were discuss wine consumption. We think it is the vast amounts of sugar just as much as anything that people get hooked on. i am going to measure out the sugar into glasses this week-end to do a comparison,
Tuesday 16th Dec
Well byebyebridget.com is very close to launch. only another week. Behind the scenes it looks fantastic! So many dedicated passionate people are putting together a fun and informative website. It grows every day and the energy levels are high. I think people are going to love it.
I've just stubbed my alread broken toe - holly mother theresa!
Monday 15th Dec
I have had an amazing insight to binge eating... when i am anxious i eat. When i am really busy and occupied i don;t eat. No wonder i have spent my whole like battling with "just being able to sit" and chill. I know when i do, i eat. Up and down like a compulsive yo-yo..... first a few carrot sticks, then some salad, then some dark chocolate, then some more chocolate, then some regret. Regret never taste good after all the other stuff!
Sunday 14th Dec
Does anyone else having an "expansive mind" that seems to expand all over tables and kitchen benches. Sigh - i had only been home to 60 minutes and my work desk looked a disgrace!

Saturday 13th Dec
These iron-your-hair thingies are pretty cool. just trying to iron my hair before my first patient. Talk about scrappy-doo! Bags under the eyes - obviously stressed.

Friday 12th Dec
Well I think i need to buy some more time to lose the 6kg! How weak i hear you say - how realistic - i am so much happier exercising and losing size. The scales have become a little insignificant. The only time i let them count is when i stand on them. The remainder of the time i am judging myself on how i feel, What i am thinking about (happy things) and if i fit my clothes or not!
I have cut back on lattes (only 1 per week) the remainder water coffee which i may as well stop. I have cut back on daily binging on chocolate, except when the hormones demand it, and i have been able to survive a day or two without vino. All positives.
Thursday 11th Dec
Let me state up front that i am eager in life - not desperate. it's a fine line. I am eager to be wealthy, eager to stay healthy, eager to be fit and lean but never DESPERATE. However - I couldn't pass-up this spell book!

Wed 10th Dec
Today is liberating - i have over come a tonne of guilt and have employed a cleaner! It's been so long that i couldn't remember "how clean" my house should be - so i cleaned it. I have never flung and shoved toys into basket like this - but it was the quickest clean i have ever done! Don't sneeze.

Tuesday 9th Dec
My baby's 2nd birthday! WOW. Time to celebrate. WIth 2 weeks of stress I have put on weight again. I am learning to appreciate the negative effects of stress on a new playing field. It is diabolical to losing weight and leaning-up! This sticky date pudding from Fish Heads, Byron Bay didn't help. It was massive and devine.

Monday 8th Dec
ENOUGH OF FEELING SORRY FOR MYSELF!
Ok, i am only human and sometimes the 3 kids, single mum things gets me down. It creeps up on you like a hungry tiger! You can hear it growling and flaring its nostrils in the bushes behind you but you think if you push on it will go away. But i have worked out over the last few years that it simply walk away, you have to actively SHOVE it away. So after breaking my toe yesterday, and having a mini melt down on the kitchen tiles (as i fell like Twin Towers on Sept 11th after i stubbed my toe) I had an epiphany....
I am stressed and anxious when i am tired. When i am tired i have less energy for the kids, when i have less energy for the kids they play up. When they play up, i get careless and stubb my toes and break one of them. Then i feel fat and ugly. Then the downward spiral picks up momentum!
The key is.... i'm still trying to work it out.
COLD shower for now, a mighty shove to all my woes ($, kids, sick kids, singledom, broken toe)! and life will be good after the shower! Man, feet are the ugliest things....

Ok, Back from the shower and feel much better. The following is what i typically do to get myself out of a rut...
1. Change my environment - if that is not possible and i have things that must get done i do the following
2. exercise (walk, run, swim) or have a shower to start "a fresh"
3. Pure 1000ml of water and another drink
4. plan what i am doing for the week (ie set some goals)
5. plan what i am going to achieve for the day (I divide the page into 4 areas - i will elaborate on this in blogger) essentially, phone calls, emails, things to do (with time allocation) and rough running time plan of the day.
Sunday 7th Dec
Average things a mummy bridget gets up to an a day.
5.30 am woken by kids, one of them sick. 3 changes of sheets by midday due to spillages -the usual 3 culprits (P_ _, P_ _ , V _ _ _ _ )!
everyone in the pool by 730am for a few hours. Cleaning the house (seemed to do the kitchen bench 3 times for some reason), updated website, washing, etc. In to work for a client, and stopped by the gym on the way home. although i have slipped backwards a little, i have noticed that my fitness is much better. the best in a few years and that feels great.
the little guy had a sleep, one cooked some shortbread, one retreated to her room to watch a video. i had a swim and a sleep. then played with all of them for awhile.
The little guy is still sick so gave him some meds and went to an after hours clinics. we saw a GP, then headed to do some shopping - milk, mops, fish filter for tank, and weed. ETC! home , cooked steak, caesar and potatoe salad. negotiating bed times now and thinking about how i am going to stay awake over the next 2 hours - or whether i should have an early night and get everyone in bed (including myself) by 730pm.

Friday 5th Dec
Wow - i feel so proud for going from Lattes to water and commericial blended stuff (yuk - but feel i am saving $ and saving calories). Ironically (or stupidly), I still don't like coffee but continue to drink it. I am sure it gives me more psychologically lift than it does physically. I am also so proud i have gone from 3 medium cups to one steiner cup - so proud!
Yip, looking shattered. com'on coffee

Thursday 4th Dec
it;s so hard now-a-days. A modern woman does not know whether to be true to values and "zen" or attractive and "pleasing on the eye".

Wed 3rd Dec
single mums, broken shoes, endless excuses. this week has been tough. I think i am sliding backwards again, or am content with body as it. I am doing as much exercise as i can fit in around the kids (with 3 , there seems to be a secret rotational sick roster between them, which means i average about 5 nights sleep a week). My zips are just doing up on my frocks, those that don't do up sare probably inappropriate to wear at my age and maturidness (!@) so maybe just being happy and surviving each day is an accomplishment in itself. Darn those 6 kgs! Maybe another week!
I just worked out by reducing the sides of the photo i can lose 6 kgs instantly. Hmm. digitally enhanced bridget!

Tues 2nd Dec
A typical day in the life of SBP (AKA Bridge)

Monday 1st Dec
I will up date this site tonight.
All in all, i have discovered after 6 weeks of doing this concerted effort to lose weight the following:
i haven't lost anything on the scales, but i have shed heaps of excessive mental self-put-downs and self lothing.
I am still eating way in excess of daily calorie needs but i am eating with a happy mind set which releases the correct hormones for digestion.
Being with a personal trainer is the only way to go with body shaping. They push you far more than embarking on exercise alone. Obviously running, walking and swimming can still be done on your own, but i doubt whether the average person would achieve the same results throught a gym membership!
That we all have a little bit of self-lothing, self sabotaging in us and most of us respond better with a support crew or group rather than hacking threw on our own.

Another Bridget joined me today - my beautiful, funny girlfriend Bridget (I havent asked if she would like an allias yet) .
see if you can relate to where she is at.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/3060966406/
I really enjoyed having someone else join me with Quentin - i found it didn't hurt as much - bridget # 2 seemed to take my mind of my own pain and she definitely had a much better way of venting and verbalising our collaborative pain. I tend to grind my teeth but now i ehave been enlightened. Thanks girlfriend :) http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/3060134647/in/photostream/

Tuesday 25th Nov
things are gradually on the improve. it has taken awhile though. BUT i can do my dresses up again. The back fat must be re-locating or something. The scales have not budged and i am learning 1st hand how depressing the silly things can be! I am also learning that what you feel in your head is much more important than what you see in the mirror or see on the scales.
If we wake up and program our female brains (just like a google search) for the words fat and ugly - it will reward us with lots of sites and listings....however if we play the game and change our search words and enter : love, relaxed, happy, smile, loved then our smart little internal google engines will provide us with many incidences over the day to support that theory or search. I know what i would rather get back from my google search. be vigilant about what you type into your head first thing in the morning!
Monday 24th Nov

little bridget lunch time meals: sandwhich, yogurt, apple, 100% fruit strap, vege chips, cheese stick
Sunday 23rd Nov
Some happy bridgets from John Flynn Hospital Ball. Mariane saves people in the Emergency department, whilst Shona on the right, works at Gwondona health retreat as a naturopath and as a nurse and Tanya works in the renal unit. There are some lovely nurse Bridgets around who work hard, have a great attitude towards life and do a wonderful service in our hospitals.

When are they going to bring out bridget beer or bridget champus - high protein, low carb!

Bridget is off to a ball. This was my training and I don't think it was adequate.

Note to older bridgets - do some neck and back stretches before dancing to Wolf Mother on the dance floor after copious amounts of alcohol. Watch out for Christmas parties, 80's music and champagne mixed together. Bound to wake up with stiff neck and throbbing feet. What the..

bridget would eat salad 3 times a day if her fridge looked like this

Wednesday 19th Nov Day 35
I was sorry to hear about David (from Magic Apple)'s death the other day. I often have breakfast there. this is one of his saying for the wall.

Tuesday 18th Nov Day 34
When we plan , we forcast in weeks but in reality life moves in one month blocks.
When we make business plans and allocate time , we have our entrepaneural hat on. we forget to cater for the family, relationships, relaxation time and can experience stress.
Monday 17th Nov Day 33
I would really appreciate you filling in the below survey. i will give you a free spa detox as a thank-you for your time and energy.

Sun 16th Nov Day 32
perfect bridget fodder - seaweed (to boost my metabolism), meat for strong arms , salmon for brains, lots of protein bars - for breakfasts. Artichokes are a little treat. Yum !

Saturday 15th Nov Day 31
Fortunately some positive changes. The scales haven't changed but i have lost 10cm from my waist. I do feel much better. Obviously i am still carrying some "back fat" - err yuk! - but things are starting to shift.
Today i encountered my old mates of the skies, public enemy # 3 magpies!
It's that time of the year when the brooding birds try to deter walkers. Not this year! I am on a mission. I have devised a magpie repellent - a large stick/twig threaded in my hair, anchored with the cap strap. Ingenious, even if it does look a little nutty. Bring it on, birdies.

Friday 14th No Day30
Some days are packed with appointments, committments and there appears to be no time for exercise. I would like to challenge that a little and suggest to find 10 min opportunities, instead of big blocks of time. 2 or 3 lots of 10 minute walks is better than none, and just as good as a 30min walk.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/3028378008/
Thursday 13th Nov Day 29
http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/3027571849/
I don't know if i would recommend training from home. It's easy and convenient but it is home. I think your home should stay your retreat and be filled with loving, happy memories, not ones of pain and anguish, like from when your PT visited you.
This will make you laugh

Wednesday 12th Nov day 28
I have attached a survey for all you keen bridget followers. I would really appreciate the 5 mins of your time to fill it in. It will help me with the new website. In return i'd like to offer you a foot spa detox voucher. (The foot spa detoxes are unreal ).

Tuesday 11th Nov Day 27
the perfect breakfast for Bridget O blood groups

Monday 10th Nov Day 26
The rice bubble bandit. This is why mummy bridgets need a glass of wine at night. (Or latte, or chocolate)

Sunday 9th Nov Day 25
is it unrealistic to want to look like those gals in Zohan (the babes on the beach in Brazil) or is it crazy to day dream about being one of the bridesmaids (or even Sophia) like the girls in Mumma Mia? (or maybe more realistically at this stage of the game - meryl streep, living on a romantic Greek Island with 3 men up for grabs). Or do we all think like that? If only day dream burnt up lots of calories!
Saturday 8th Nov Day 24
Well there doesn't appear to be a lot to show for my extra good effort with eating, not drinking wine, no lattes, lesser chocolate and lots of exercise. Of course i know i am healthier but my dresses still don't fit and i look the same, so desperate times call for desperate measures.
A girlfriend suggested maple syrup, lemon juice and 2litres of water every day with only vegies -
Another suggested Bikrum yoga (which i am looking into)
I'm pondering the following options:
1. give up now and accept that motherhood and good healthy habits are oxymorons.
2. go on a proper salad/fish calorie restriction 2 carrots/a day type diet
3. increase the anti - extra supplements, extra exercise, bikrum daily, some crazy detox??
Hmm...i will do another cellular health to see if i am making progress.
This is why you need "friend or group support ". Getting fit, losing weight, changing lifestyle activities, takes immense committment and takes time to cement as a habit (>21 days). I am sure the reason why many people don't succeed at their lifestyle changes, are because they imbark on too many changes at once. For example, going from 2 walks a week, having a coffee and muffin every day, etc.. to suddenly eating 5-6 very healthy meals, exercising daily etc... is a big thing. Especially when dramatic results can takes weeks to become evident! What people really need to achieve in this period is a mood and self esteem change, then the other things are a lot easier and self sabotaging thoughts are disappearing. Bridget see - now bridget need to do :)
Friday 7th Nov Day 23
Wow, I know realise that people can yo-yo daily, weekly and monthly! This morning i weighed in at 69.4kg, by lunch it was up to 71kg and after a long walk it was down to 69.8kg (all water loss). So all those people who tell me you can gain weight over a day, i know it is true.

Public enemy no # 2. The scales
Thursday 6th Nov Day 22
The next best thing to Macdonalds and coke for a hang-over (both of which i really can't eat as i know what they are made of), is a 3 egg omlete, with ham, mushrooms and spinach. DELICIOUS!

Wednesday 5th Nov Day 21
What a bad day on Cup day - I knew i would go backwards - but not this much!! 2 kg gained, sore liver, sore head and new pledges not to drink again. Lots of fun, no winnings but saw a really nice hat:
Also found that vodka and cranberry are great for missing out on bad hang-overs and good for calories (and UTIS ) but not good for the purse strings.

Tuesday 4th Nov Day 20

These were our salmon something - weight-watchers-portions. sigh. They would have been lovely with a bit more meat and a little less sauce!
This day will not count. Melbourne Cup Day.... best pick. Tough as i haven't studied the form guide properly, but think Septimus, (now that it has rained) and maybe Mad Rush (if still racing). This is posted at 0655am and for the record i haven;t had a champagne yet !
Monday 3rd Nov day 19
i was excited and really looking forward to trying on some dresses (many of them unworn) for the Melbourne Cup Race Day. That was quickly extinguished as I realised that none of them were going to fit. All except for one - the reliable, figure-indistinguishable A frame dress. Giddy Up :(Another motivator!
Sat/Sun 1st and 2nd Nov day 17.18

This is a police sketch of public enemy No# 1 that i mocked up yesterday. Anyone seen it?
Friday 31st Oct day 16
A day of eating - these days can set you back. I tried to exercise to match the food and wine - sigh. Obviously i would have needed to exercise for 4 hours to burn off all off it!
The Japanese is from my favorite restaurant - Itoshin in Mermaid Beach
Shane, a waiter from Moo Moo in Broadbeach, offers the best service and the steaks are definitely the best in town!

Thursday 30th Oct day 15
Tip 7 Don't panic if your Au naturel - tea tree deodorant starts to froth - that's what it does.

Tip 6 Wear running pants that cover that fat bulge - otherwise you risk getting chaff! Man it hurts. Not an attractive look - looking like a sausage on a BBQ as the skin peels back.
Wednesday 29th Oct day 14
Back into training - beautiful day and i am determined to lose this weight and keep the good habits flowing.
My home: http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/2984712595/
This was the easiest exercise of the day!! OMG it was a hard sesh.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/2985576046/
the aftermath http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/2985582928/
Tuesday 28th Oct Day 13
Tip 5: don't drink champagne after eating salmon (or get a new glass). I celebrated tonight as i have lost 2 kg of fat (one cellular health analysis) and survived the flight home with the 3 kids.
An average day in Bridget's life - this is my rationale in the past for cuppacinos, chocolate and wine. This is before catching the plane http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/2981879945/. (for the record i didn't have a scotch. good bridget )

Monday 27th Oct Day 12
Tip 4: combining a good quality protein with salads or vegetables is the best way to eat (generally)
It is so challenging being in Tasmania surrounded by some of the best foods and wines in the world ! Today I did a very condensed training session with Maisy at Sandy Bay beach. I can highly recommend the chicken caesar salad from Rendez Vouz in Salamanca square. Fantastic food, all reasonably priced and by the end of lunch, you will be on first name basis with Jeff. Now THAT's a CAESAR!

Sunday 26th Oct Day 11
Clothing seems to be slightly looser.
Tip 3: If you have kids, a busy day or lots of commitments - aim to have 2-3 smaller walks. Find opportunities and be prepared . Take a pair of sneckers with you everywhere! If you have an appoint and they are running 15 minutes late- go for a walk. If you arrive somewhere early - go for a walk. They all add up!
Saturday 25th Oct day 10 2 hot tips
Tip 1: 2 apples = $1 & 80 calories, 1 latte = $4.50 and 400 calories. Buy 2 apples instead. cheaper, healthier and you save $$$$

Tip 2 Increasing circulation to "dormant" or congested body areas works. For example bums, tums, tuckshop arms. This is a great little massage bed/wobbler at Get Smart Hair and Beauty. 12 sessions only $99.

Friday 24th Oct Day 9
At this stage of any lifestyle change, diet, exercise program, herbal etc...one is after some reward for effort. Well, it could be the inconsistencies, the lattes, the awsome fish and chips in Hobart, the change in climate, however this little Bridget isn't noticing a massive drop in weight. I know, it must be hormones.
Anyway, this is when most people need to re focus and call for support. I am ok, as i have a small following now and i can't let them/myself down. However you may find you are thin on motivation. Keep going, keep moving and keep focused forward.

Thursday 23rd Oct Day 8
sleeping on the plane between training and lattes (DOH)! OK. the training isn't that hard. The last photo isn't really anything to do with kicking bad habits . They are my 3 amigos.

Wed 22nd Oct Day 7
I'm flying to Hobart with the kids - any wonder Bridge feels like a wine with lunch - flying with 3 kids . Bring it on!
The challenge remains - keep lattes down, wine consumption down (failing miserably) and exercise up.
Earlier in the week - recruiting gals from my hair salon... http://www.flickr.com/photos/31444151@N04/2961462072/
And slipping in some bridget maintenance
Tuesday 21st Oct Day 6
I think it is time to part with my bridgie undies - they are soooo comfortable though. So today is SAY GOOD BYE TO MUMMA's UNDIES DAY. It will be tough - i know - but we must push through Bridgets et al.... it is for the best interests of EVERYONE. Trust me on this one.
